Welcome To My Home Page
Hi! Thanks for taking a look at my "home" page...If you are the curious type, this page will give you a little more information about a "piano restorer" named Phillip.
I was born in the year of the Dragon and am a "dyed in the wool" Leo. My birthplace is California but I have been an adopted Texan since I was 18 months old. When I was a small child, my parents lived and worked in many cities and military reservations in California, Nevada, and Utah.
I have lived around the Dallas/Fort Worth area (within 50 miles) most of my life except for the short times I lived in Albuquerque, New Mexico and Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
I now live in the small town of Krum, Denton County, Texas. Krum is located, centrally, about 40 miles north of Dallas and Fort Worth. It is about 5 miles from Denton, Texas. Denton is the home of The University of North Texas and Texas Women's University.
Construction on my home was started in 1900 and completed in 1903. The owner/builder was Baxter Wilson. Mr. Wilson was a respected rancher/farmer/builder, and mule raiser in this area. He raised his family in this house. The roofline of the house was changed to a Gambrel style after some storm damage in the 1930's or 1940's. It is said that Mr. Wilson had selected every board that went into the construction of this house and rejected any with knots and imperfections. To this day, I have not found a knot in any of the lumber.
Below please find a photo of the Wilson House and Family that was taken in 1908. Under it is a photo I took in 2001:

I attended many schools on my way to my present vocation. Some were Draughons Business College, Arlington State College, Southern Methodist University, Central State College, Case Western Reserve, University of North Texas, and Niles Bryant Institute.(There are a few more but I can't remember all of them! If the company I was working for offered to pay for some of my education, I took them up on it.)
In my life I have had the following jobs:
Dairyman - Printer - Certified Welder - Quality Control Inspector - Potato Chip Taster (honest) - State Highway Right of Way Appraiser - Heavy Equipment Operator - Carpenter's Helper - Sheet Metal Spot Welder - Printer's Helper - Commercial Painter - Automobile Salesman - Bookkeeper - Accountant - Floral Designer - Military Optics Fabricator - Manufacturer's Representative for Sheathing and Building Materials - Piano Player in a Small Band - Concrete Admixture Salesman and Concrete Structural Designer - Vice President of an Electro-Optical Fabricator for Military Fire Control Devices - Salesman for heavy equipment - City Marshal in a small town - AND, for the last 29 years, a Piano Technician specializing in the Tuning, Repair, and Restoration of the older pianos. These include grands, uprights, squares, and all types of players.
My father told me that everything you do and learn in life will help you somewhere, someday, or somehow. How right he was.
I am an Honorably Discharged Marine. Semper Fi!
(No combat veteran - I have a very high respect for those who were!)
I hold a valid Pilots License.
I play and teach piano. When I was 5 my mother told me that I had a choice; either take piano lessons or tap dancing! I am really glad that I chose piano. I got a great deal of teasing in school for playing the piano and playing football too. Well, I don't play football now but I still play and greatly enjoy the piano. Right again, Mom.....
I enjoy riding my Honda Helix motor scooter as a stress relief. I have owned several loud, chrome plated, big and fast motorcycles but I now prefer the smooth fun of the Helix.
I am an Amateur Radio Operator, Callsign: WB5QWI. I participate with my other local amateurs in the Skywarn Weather Alerts for our local club and the National Weather Service.
